Fight Club
 Spring 2023

For this project, I designed a book jacket for Chuck Palahniuk's “Fight Club” that reflects the novel’s themes of rebellion, identity, and chaos. The cover uses bold, contrasting neon colors—pink, blue, and purple—to create an edgy, high-energy visual that mirrors the anarchic and subversive tone of the story. The central image of a vintage computer on the front alludes to the dehumanizing, corporate-driven world the protagonist seeks to escape, while also suggesting the technological and societal disconnect that “Fight Club” critiques.

The typeface is sharp and modern, reinforcing the novel’s cutting social commentary, and the loud, starburst-shaped review callout on the back mimics the visual style of comic books, symbolizing the novel's aggressive, in-your-face narrative style. Additionally, the use of a simplified, almost mechanical version of Palahniuk’s portrait ties into the book’s exploration of identity loss and dehumanization in modern society.

The content of the book jacket, with references to secret fight clubs and underground movements, is presented in a way that builds intrigue without revealing too much, matching the mystery and intensity of the plot. The overall design reflects the chaotic energy and anti-establishment themes of “Fight Club”, capturing its tension between personal crisis and societal rebellion.
